Are you wondering about the presence of the strange USB port in the new MPEG-4 Digicom set top box of the Tata Sky and want to know how to use it? Then find out here about how to use the USB drive of the DTH service. You can also able to get the full review with its features and specifications. Learn about the advantages of the Tata Sky MPEG-4 digicom set top box over the normal MPEG-2 digicom set top box.
Recently the Tata Sky had announced that the old MPEG 2 digicom set
top boxes are no longer work (don't confuse the Tata Sky MPEG 4 boxes
with the Tata Sky+ HD boxes) and the channels lost its visual one by
one and only the audio will work in the MPEG 2 boxes since the video is
in the MPEG 4 format.
Hope you had replaced your old MPEG 2 digicom receiver with the newer MPEG 4. The new box seems to have metalic body coated with black paint and looks smaller than the previous one. The new box doesn't have any external buttons which means the user can only able operate it with a help of a remote control and its impossible to change channels or access the menu, if the remote battery dries out suddenly. The new MPEG-4 has three LED light indicators, first one for standby, second one for remote and the last one for the alert. You can observe the change in the sound effect of Tata Sky MPEG 4 digicom box which is different than the old MPEG 2 box.
Lets look out its back! Everything seems to be same as the previous digicom box except the USB port which makes everyone asking the question "Whats the use of USB port on the TataSky digicom box?" Well the USB port won't support the pen drive and memory card readers. Its only use is that the users can use it for the future updates on the Tata Sky such as for viewing the live TV channels on the computer or laptop with the help of the digicom box and to install softwares etc.,. Now you can't use the USB port and it is currently useless.
You wont able to hear the sound clearly in the headset/head phone from the TV which consist of the TATA Sky MPEG 4 digicom set top box and to over come this, please remove "left" or "right" audio output pin to the TV.
